Kadans Science Partner has expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of the Rotterdam Science Tower. With this addition to the portfolio, Kadans is now also active in Rotterdam. In recent years the tower has become an international landing place for innovation and entrepreneurship. A great next step for Kadans to grow into an international ecosystem of science parks.

Rotterdam Science Tower

The building was developed in 1975 and redeveloped in 2012 into the multifunctional office and laboratory building it is known for today. Rotterdam Science Tower has over 40,000 m2, including 622 parking spaces in the adjacent parking garage. A large part are high quality laboratory and office spaces. The location is easily accessible by both public transport and car. Various knowledge-intensive companies and institutes are currently active in the tower, such as ViroClinincs, de Erasmus MC incubator en het Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship.

Kadans Science Partner is buying the building from a private investor who, in collaboration with Cyclus Property, has laid the foundation for the implementation of a successful innovation and life sciences strategy. A start was also made on renovating the building and making it more sustainable. Kadans will continue to renovate the building in the coming period, particularly paying attention to the creation of high-quality office and laboratory spaces. Making the building more sustainable is also an important part of this. Kadans will also manage the building and provide the high level of service that goes with it.

Chiel van Dijen, Commercial Director Kadans Science Partner: “We are delighted to expand our portfolio in Rotterdam. Rotterdam Science Tower is an important location for innovation, entrepreneurship and future development. This is a great step for us that fits within our growth ambition”.

André Halm, Partner Cyclus Property: “Recently, important steps have been taken towards the expansion of the themes of innovation and life sciences. We see it as a strong confirmation of the chosen direction that Kadans sees this project as a good addition to its portfolio and will give substance to the next phase.”

Inspiring central room

Another important part of the renovation is the creation of inspiring, central meeting spaces. This is an important part of all Kadans’ buildings. This is where tenants meet, knowledge is exchanged and collaborations form. Kadans wants to realize this in the Rotterdam Science Tower too. The building is internationally known as a strong center of innovation and entrepreneurship. The strong mix of tenants in the building means there are plenty of knowledge, innovation and R&D opportunities. This is in line with Kadans’ mission to create one strong ecosystem of science parks throughout Europe in which collaboration is sought between industry, universities, science parks and government. The addition of the Rotterdam Science Tower is a great step in this direction.
