How to build a successful team?
Date: January 24, 2022
Time: 14:00 – 17:00 hours
Where: Novio Tech Campus, Nijmegen or online
Picking the wrong people and creating the wrong team is the fastest way to kill your startup. But how do you pick the right people and create a team that complements each other? A team that is open, shares lessons and learns together?
After al, success is defined by the people in the company and the way they can cooperate.
Ideally you will have a team that mostly supports the direction your startup is going into, but with a certain amount of courage, a critical view and an ability to discuss the important matters. But mostly a team of people that complements you.
A complementary team starts with knowledge about yourself as a leader or founder. Who am I? What are my qualities? What are my pitfalls? How do I perceive the world?
Trainer Frank Stofmeel is a team and performance coach (see LinkedIn profile) and he will guide you through questions that will help you find out what you need from other people. It will help you to make your team complimentary to accelerate growth and increase results on the long term.
This workshop will be a quest into yourself and will help you find out what you need from other people to complement your character so you know how to build a successful team!
Science Meets Business Network Event – The role of digital health in keeping our health system financially, socially & environmentally sustainable
Date: January 27, 2022
Time: 16:00 – 17:00. Online networking from 17:00 – 17:30
Where: Online
Without interventions 1 in 4 people will work in healthcare in 2040 (compared to 1 in 7 now). And even these days it is already hardly sustainable in terms of people and costs. The inevitable conclusion is that we need to improve productivity not by working harder but by working smarter. This is possible with the help of Digital Health innovations.
During the covid pandemic, digital health innovations have been increasingly used for virtual care and self-management. There was a clear shift from digital health innovations as ‘a potential opportunity’ to ‘an immediate necessity’. Since digital health innovations hold the potential to further improve the efficiency, accessibility and quality of care such as by reducing workload and fewer travel movements, the question is how we can accelerate implementation. Not only during this pandemic, but also when the pandemic comes under control.
How can the healthcare ecosystem retain added value from digital health innovations? How can the ecosystem start new collaborations that result in better digital health innovations?
So how do we improve productivity overall whilst increasing quality? In the SMB meeting on January 27 two care organisations and two health companies will explain how they deal with digital health innovation. Moreover, Tom van de Belt (Digital Health Ambassador Nijmegen & Radboudumc) and Floor van de Watering (OostNL) will present their plans for the digital health hub, an initiative with the aim to improve healthcare through cooperation between health organizations and health companies.

Company valuation & legal issues of joint ventures with investors
Date: February 1, 2022
Time: 14:00 – 17:00 + networking
Where: Building M, Meet&Greet area at the Novio Tech Campus, Nijmegen
What’s the value of your company?
Valuation of a company is almost always hard. Sentiments play a role, but also the fact that there are many alternative ways to look at the value of a company. This is of course even more true if you run a start-up as the past offers little foundation to determine future performance and worth. But for all growth stages valuation is immensely important since external financing is in most cases the only way to grow. Therefore, it’s necessary that you understand how valuation works, that you know how best to prepare for negotiations and how to determine the conditions. This is what this workshop offers. It helps create a better understanding of company valuation and investment terms as well as the process to reach an investment deal.
Understanding the other side of the table
Investors and entrepreneurs both want a deal that makes them happy. In order to have fruitful discussions about the valuation of your company, it’s therefore important for both sides of the table to have a good understanding of each other’s perspective. What does an investor look for in a business case? What is expected from you as an entrepreneur? But also, what can you expect from an investor? Now during the deal making phase, but also later on as a shareholder in your company? Instead of looking for a bigger slice of the pie, the goal should be to make the pie bigger for everyone at the table.
Legal issues regarding the participation of investors
When an investor and entrepreneur cooperate, in principle, they have the same objectives. But that’s not the case on all aspects of the cooperation. For instance regarding an exit or the relationship between the management board and the general meeting of shareholders. These are some of the most important issues in the cooperation between an entrepreneur and an investor. Thorough thought on these issues upfront contribute to a smooth cooperation between entrepreneur and an investor.

Smart decisions to attract venture capital investment for your innovation?
Date: February 3, 2022
Time: 13:30 – 16:30
Where: Building M, Meet&Greet area at the Novio Tech Campus, Nijmegen
This workshop focuses on innovative startups/entrepreneurs that might not yet be ready to apply for series A capital but are determined to get there in the next few years and wish to think ahead.
Great ideas are important but not enough to create a sustainable businesses. Building a company needs a lot of effort from the right talents. But sooner or later external money is also needed to attract the right people and grow the business. Often starting with friends, family and fools, then angel investment and at one moment in time also serious investments by venture capital. While building the company it is important to be aware of the criteria that the different investors use in choosing investments and to be able to work towards meeting them.
In this workshop Thijs Cohen Tervaert, investor and Director at Inkef Capital, will explain the role of venture capital, the criteria used in selecting the right investments and how even early on in your startup you can prepare for these. For some participants of the workshop it is possible to give short pitches and get feedback from Thijs (send an email to Briskr when you are interested to pitch yourself).
