An unprecedented achievement, that is what vaccine specialist Hans Schikan said about the availability of four vaccines in just one year. The task now lies before us to scale up the production capacity of covid vaccines. Commisioned by the Dutch government, Schikan investigated the possibilities for the Netherlands to contribute. Unfortunately, he had to conclude that rapid up scaling is not possible. There are however, a number of promising recommendations for the future.
