The campus is the base for many energy-innovation focused organisations such as Energy Academy Europe, HESI (Hybrid Energy Systems Integration by TNO),Centre of Expertise Energy Hanzehogeschool, ZAP (Zernike Advanced Processing), Stadswarmte, and DNV focusing on renewable andalternative energy systems. Supported by the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences, it drives sustainable energy innovation with cutting-edge research.

The Campus turns vast amounts of digital information into actionable insights, transforming ‘big data’ into smart data through filtering, structuring, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence. This includes data from astronomy, corporate datasets, biobanks, and smart factories. Through initiatives such as the Data Science and Systems Complexity Center, 5G Fieldlab, Internet-of-Things Network, Center for Information Technologies, and the European Research Center for Exascale Technology (ERCET), Campus Groningen stays at the forefront of advanced materials and smart data research.
