Tech Lane Ghent Science Park: an epicentre for research, culture, and innovation

A powerhouse of interdisciplinary research and innovation.

An inspiring environment for research, development, and innovation

Spread across two neighbouring sites – Campus Ardoyen and Campus Eiland – Tech Lane Ghent Science Park (TLGSP) is a dynamic cluster where pioneering research meets a shared drive to innovate. Located south of Ghent, the Park neighbours several university campuses and hosts renowned research institutes, such as VIB, IMEC, Flanders Make, Sirris, and Capture, alongside international corporate R&D centres, fostering breakthroughs in cross-disciplinary research.

Highly collaborative and diverse community

At Tech Lane Ghent Science Park, collaboration sits at the heart of innovation. The community brings together corporate R&D centres, public research institutes and high-tech scale-ups, working side by side across six deep-tech clusters: Plant Biotech, Health Tech & Pharma, Sustainable Chemistry & Industrial Biotech, Photonics, Materials Testing and Digital Technologies. Here, researchers, entrepreneurs and industry experts exchange ideas, share facilities and accelerate breakthroughs — from advanced therapies and diagnostics to sustainable materials and high-speed electronics. Guided by a strategic partnership between the City of Ghent and Ghent University, the Park fosters connections that turn knowledge into impact.

International network

The cluster attracts world-leading companies, research institutes and start-ups that collectively advance deep tech. In Ghent, a city investing strategically in Cleantech, Biotech, Healthtech and Digitech, international collaboration is driven by proximity, with biotech, medtech and digital technologies clustered side by side. This close concentration accelerates the translation of research into market-ready solutions; one in four healthtech start-ups emerges directly from local research centres. With partners such as UZ Gent, Ghent University, VIB, IMEC and ORSI Academy, the Park powers breakthroughs in oncology, regenerative medicine, advanced materials, data technologies and beyond, reinforcing Ghent’s position as a global innovation leader.

Access to talent and research institutes

Access to talent is one of TLGSP’s greatest strengths. Anchored by Ghent University, ranked among the world’s top 100 universities, the Science Park benefits from a growing community of over 55,000 students and 9,000 researchers, generating a steady pipeline of skills, ideas and discoveries. The ability to quickly access highly skilled personnel, along with the close proximity of talent, is a significant advantage. The university’s output continues to rise, with 500 patent families, 140 spin-offs and an expanding body of publications and PhDs. UZ Gent reinforces this research power, delivering more than 1,900 clinical trials and 900 clinical studies each year, including over 150 dedicated to medical devices. With both campuses closely integrated into this academic ecosystem, the cluster offers unrivalled access to expertise, facilities and future talent.
