August 4, 2025

Madrid, 4th August 2025 Kadans Science Partner, the European leader investing in the development of ecosystems and real estate with a dedicated focus on knowledge-intensive sectors, announces the granting of the licence for the rehabilitation of the historic Clesa factory, located in the district of Fuencarral-El Pardo, in Madrid. The new building, now Clesa Innovation Center, is set to become a centre for R&D in the life sciences and health sectors.

Winner of the Madrid City Council’s “Reinventing Cities Madrid” competition in 2021 with its proposal to transform the emblematic building, designed by Alejandro de la Sota in 1959, Kadans will begin the first phase of its rehabilitation in August 2025.

The contribution to the scientific environment of the Spanish capital includes the recovery of the building and the conservation of its protected architectural elements, including the two main halls and adjacent offices. Additionally, the project will restore façades and roofs and walkways to improve accessibility, all in strict compliance with its classification as an asset of Cultural Interest.

With a surface area of 18,000 m² dedicated to R&D, including a 3,000-square-meter cultural and convention centre, Clesa Innovation Center offers an innovative environment for life sciences and healthcare organisations, with numerous advantages for future clients. The space will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, clean rooms, prototyping facilities, flexible workspaces, an auditorium, an exhibition hall, networking areas, and landscaped gardens. The building will obtain a BREEAM Excellent certification, ensuring high sustainability and energy efficiency standards.

With Clesa Innovation Center we reinforce Kadans Science Partner’s commitment to fostering progress in the healthcare and scientific fields, as well as contributing to Madrid’s economic and social development. We are particularly proud to help establish the Spanish capital as a leading biomedical research cluster” said Miguel Muñoz, Director of Kadans in Spain. The company currently manages buildings in over 30 specialised life sciences clusters across the Netherlands, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Belgium.

Collaboration between public institutions, research organisations, academia, and industry will bring this project to life for the scientific community and facilitate the transformation of knowledge into new products available to citizens and patients.

Construction is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027.
