Málaga, 21 September 2026 – A large flower has taken root at Kadans Science Partner’s (“Kadans”) Node I, but this is no an ordinary flower. Its petals are made up of solar panels that track the sun’s movement throughout the day to harness its energy and convert it into electricity.
With this installation, Kadans aims to make sustainability a visible and recognisable feature within Málaga’s technology ecosystem. The SmartFlower combines art, technology, and renewable energy in a single piece that aspires to become a new icon in the area and a reflection of the innovative activity taking place around it.
As sunflowers turn their petals towards the sun, the photovoltaic system tracks the sun’s path to maximise the capture of solar radiation. When night falls, its panels fold away, lending the installation a dynamic quality that makes energy generation an integral part of the park’s everyday landscape.
