Madrid, 25 September 2025 – Kadans Science Partner (“Kadans”) announces the start of the renovation of the Clesa Innovation Center, an ambitious initiative that will transform the historic Clesa factory in Fuencarral into a leading hub for research, innovation and business collaboration in life sciences On Thursday, Kadans, the City Council, and various research leaders in life sciences have formally launched the project during an inspiring event.

The project to transform the historic Clesa factory has already been granted a building permit and will begin its refurbishment phase this autumn. It involves a comprehensive restoration of the iconic industrial complex, which will be relaunched as the Clesa Innovation Center, a multidisciplinary space covering 18,000 m2 dedicated to R&D&I that will include state-of-the-art laboratories, clean rooms, offices and knowledge-sharing areas.

The new center will be located in a strategic location for life sciences research. It is surrounded by leading institutions such as the La Paz and Ramón y Cajal public hospitals, the City of Health project with the Autonomous University of Madrid and the CNIO (National Cancer Research Centre). This ecosystem positions the Clesa Innovation Center as the capital’s future hub for biomedical innovation.

Kadans, the developer behind the initiative, aims to turn the Clesa Innovation Center into a meeting point for the scientific and business communities. Today, during its official presentation, Madrid City Council authorities and leading experts in medicine, technology, bio-agriculture and artificial intelligence highlighted the complex’s potential as a platform for knowledge exchange.

The launch of the Clesa Innovation Center is a milestone for Madrid and for the entire life sciences innovation ecosystem. Our goal is to offer an internationally recognised space that not only promotes research and public-private collaboration, but also involves the local community. We want this to be a place where solutions are generated to improve people’s health and, at the same time, encourage interaction with the urban environment. Madrid has the talent and potential to be a global R&D&I hub, and as Kadans we look forward to taking an active role in that future,” said Miguel Muñoz Padellano, director of Kadans Science Partner Spain.

The estimated completion date for the works is the second half of 2027.
