Kadans Science Partner signs agreement with BAM for the realisation of The Bridge

February 23, 2026

’s-Hertogenbosch, 23 February 2026 – Kadans Science Partner (“Kadans”) has signed the contract together with BAM Bouw en Techniek – Projecten for the design and realisation of the construction project The Bridge at Utrecht Science Park. With this signing, an important next step has been taken in the development of a future-proof building for knowledge-intensive organisations in the life sciences and sustainability sectors.

A reliable partner for a complex challenge

The selection of BAM was made with great care. As a reliable and expert partner, BAM has extensive experience with complex projects in the fields of circularity, sustainability, requirements management and high-quality user demands. The project places high demands on design, technology and execution. The integrated approach to this project aligns perfectly with BAM’s working methods. All disciplines are involved from the outset, with the end result safeguarded within integrated work processes. Moreover, BAM is able to provide guarantees to successfully deliver the entire project.

The collaboration builds on an earlier joint and successful project: the Accelerator building at Utrecht Science Park. This positive experience forms a solid foundation for the partnership on The Bridge.

Structural collaboration and partnership

Since the start of the process, there has been a strong and structured collaboration between Kadans and BAM. Together with architect cepezed and technical consultant Arcadis, design and execution have been fully integrated, enabling knowledge to be combined at an early stage and decisions to be made jointly. This partnership contributes to quality, efficiency and a smooth construction process.

Johan van Gerven, Country Lead Development NL & BE at Kadans Science Partner, said:
“The Bridge is an ambitious project in which sustainability, circularity and user requirements come together. We deliberately chose BAM because of their expertise, integrated approach and proven experience. Confidence in their approach and track record gives us the certainty required for a development of this calibre.”

Eric Moleman, Managing Director BAM Bouw en Techniek – Projecten, said:
“At BAM, we build environments that improve living and working conditions. We do so driven by our strategy ‘Building a sustainable tomorrow’ and by our integrated approach. In The Bridge project, our values clearly come together: sustainability through reuse and future-proof choices; collaboration through close integration with Kadans, Cepezed and Arcadis; and ownership by taking full responsibility for quality and buildability. In this way, we deliver a building that users can rely on.”

Jetske Evers, Development Manager at Kadans Science Partner, added:
“The collaboration with BAM truly feels like a partnership. From the tender phase onwards, we have worked intensively with BAM, cepezed and Arcadis, with short lines of communication between design and execution. This makes it possible to take swift and well-considered decisions. Together, we are creating a building that is not only technically sound, but also provides a pleasant working environment for the future users of the Biodynamica and Biocomplexity (IBB) institutes, the Institute of Environmental Biology (IEB), and part of the Bijvoet Centre of Utrecht University.”

About The Bridge

The Bridge involves the transformation of the concrete structural shell of the former Earth Sciences building of Utrecht University. The new building will have a total floor area of approximately 21,000 m² GFA, comprise five storeys, and include specialised laboratories, offices, meeting rooms and an open atrium with a central staircase connecting to a roof garden. During the first eight years, Utrecht University will occupy the entire building as the main tenant. At a later stage, The Bridge will focus on accommodating start-up and scale-up companies in the sustainability sector. The Bridge will be realised with a BREEAM Excellent certification.

By signing the contract with BAM, Kadans Science Partner takes the next step in the further development of high-quality, sustainable research environments and in strengthening the innovative ecosystem within Utrecht Science Park.
